Provincial Land Tax Changes Affect You!

smile_sad Included with this years Provincial Land Tax (PLT) bill was a notice regarding implementation of the Provincial Land Tax Act, 2006. I spoke with Cindy Ryder-Davis, Senior Policy Analyst, Finance Policy and Stakeholder Relations Unit, Ministry of Finance . A Ministry representative said an initial round of consultation meetings has taken place and the results are contained in this document. Also, she advised that another round of consultation meetings is to take place this summer.

You are encouraged to call this number 1 (800) 263-7965 and have your name added to a list so you will be notified about the time and location of the meetings.
I strongly recommend your taking the time to familiarize yourself with the issues as it WILL have a direct impact on your cheque book.I will be writing more on this site in the near future. There are many issues to be considered to ensure the unincorporated townships (UT) are treated fairly. Municipalities want to spread the tax burden on the unincorporated townships and it is up to us to ensure any revisions are equitable.Please do not rely on me to look after your interests. You should be involved and informed. I encourage you to get on the list for information about the next round of consultation.
